Our Grant scheme is dedicated in memory of Lorraine Du Boisson, who sadly passed away in 2023. When Joseph passed away in 2021, Lorraine provided the family with financial support, support that got the family through their darkest hours. It’s because of this support, why the charity was able to grow in the way that it has, as it gave the family the ability to process their grief without the financial worries it beholds. The support enabled Joseph’s mother to volunteer within the charity, giving her time to help the charity flourish. In honour of Lorraine’s beautiful and selfless support, we dedicate our grant scheme to her. Without her kindness, this grant scheme might never have come to fruition, which has already provided vital and life saving support to so many children and their families.

Children on our monthly top-up grant scheme

At the end of every month, Joseph’s Smile works out how much we have raised for our monthly top-up grant scheme. We then divide this total equally between all the children on our current grant scheme. These grants will help fund the child’s lifesaving or lifechanging medical treatment or equipment that’s currently unavailable on the NHS.

Jayden suffered grade 3 HIE and was redirected to palliative care and his ventilator was removed at only 8 days old. But Jayden had other plans, and he continued to breathe independently.  Jayden will face challenges in reaching milestones which is why the family are fundraising for specialist equipment and therapy for him to give him the best start to life. Although, there is a high chance that Reeva will remain undiagnosed. Reeva has severely low muscle tone which means that she is very delayed in her physical development.

As great as the NHS are, they are unable to provide the amount of physiotherapy that Reeva will need. Private physiotherapy, travel and accommodation to these centres and specialised equipment come at a great cost.
